About Us

The Freund Family hails from an area called the Redlands, which is in Miami Dade County, Florida just north of the Florida Keys. They have been in the nursery business selling flowering trees and shrubs for over 25 years. Rick and his wife Patty have always had a passion for entertaining family and friends. Food was always a big part of the get togethers especially during the holidays.

 One day, while vacationing in Flagler Beach just south of St Augustine, Rick was introduced to the Datil pepper by his friend John Shumate, another avid cook, which inspired him to create his own sauce with Datil peppers.

After years of perfecting the sauce, he started giving it out to friends and family in small mason jars. Everyone that tried the sauce raved about it, especially his fishing friends as it paired particularly well with their fresh caught fish.

Now, after much hard work and dedication SMOKIN DATIL SWEET HEAT SAUCE is here! Our sauce was created with simple ingredients and can be used in a wide variety of dishes. The smoky, sweet flavor with the Datil pepper heat makes for a gourmet sauce that can be used with anything.
